LOS ANGELES CHARGERS, RAMS & NFL FOUNDATION TO PROVIDE GRANTS FOR CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINERS AT LA-REGION HIGH SCHOOLS

WHAT:

As part of the NFL Foundation’s Athletic Trainer Grant Program, the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams are making a two year commitment of $100,000 ($50,000 per team) to West Coast Sports Medicine Foundation and Team HEAL to provide certified full-time and part-time athletic trainers and resources to underserved high schools in the Los Angeles region. In addition, the NFL Foundation will contribute a matching donation of $100,000 in support of the initiative. The check will be presented to Dr. Clarence L. Shields, Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute and Team HEAL Founder, along with Dr. Keith Feder, Medical Director of the West Coast Center for Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine and Founder of West Coast Sports Medicine Foundation.

Prior to the check presentation, Chargers and Rams’ Head Athletic Trainers and former players from each team will speak to local students. Each speaker will share career experiences, discuss the various roles and positions of an athletic training staff, and the importance of athletic training and fitness in both sports and life.
