American Airlines appears to be the first official naming partner for Stan Kroenke’s new $5-billion Los Angeles Stadium in Inglewood. The airline is reportedly paying $90 million to sponsor the 2.5-acre main entrance plaza at the home of the NFL’s Rams, which Kroenke owns. The stadium will be shared by the Chargers football team.
The 10-story plaza can hold roughly 15,000 people and is planned to be open to the public year-round. The 70,240-seat stadium is scheduled to open next year and is set to host Super Bowl LVI in 2022.
The deal will allow the Fort Worth, TX-based airline to serve as the official airline of the Rams and Chargers and receive prominent branding during games. It has been the Rams’ carrier since the team returned to Los Angeles from St. Louis in 2016.
A $20-million sponsorship deal with SoFi had reportedly been in the works for the new Los Angeles Stadium.
